Just a heads-up for anyone flying into Denpasar airport in Bali soon – there are a few important things to sort out before you even land, and some key limits to be aware of. First off, make sure you complete the All Indonesia Arrival Card. This is mandatory and needs to be done within 1-3 days before your arrival, but not earlier than 72 hours out. It’s a new system, launched October 2025, that replaces the old e-CD, consolidating immigration, customs, and health declarations into a single QR code. Don’t skip this step!
Duty-Free and Declarations You Need to Know
duty-free, there are specific limits for what you can bring in without declaration and paying tax. For cigarettes, you’re allowed 200 per passenger. If you prefer cigars, it’s 25. Tobacco has a limit of 100g. Alcohol is capped at 1L per passenger. If you go over any of these allowances, you absolutely must declare it and be prepared to pay the applicable taxes. It’s not worth the risk of trying to sneak things through. Also, if you’re carrying foreign cash, you can bring up to IDR 100,000,000 (that’s 100 million rupiah) without declaring it. Anything exceeding that amount needs to be declared, and failure to do so can lead to hefty fines.
Other Crucial Items for Your Bali Trip
Beyond the typical duty-free items, there are other declaration points to remember. Goods purchased abroad that are staying in Indonesia and are valued over USD 500 per passenger (or USD 50 for crew members) must be declared. This is a common oversight, so keep track of your shopping receipts. If you’re bringing in animals, fish, plants, or any raw food products – including things like tortoise shells – these must all be declared. Undeclared items in these categories can be confiscated, and you could face serious consequences like arrest or even deportation. For your mobile devices, IMEI registration is mandatory and has to be declared on your customs form. Finally, if you’re traveling from a Yellow Fever zone, be sure to have proof of vaccination. Immigration or customs officials may request this upon arrival, and it’s better to be prepared than caught off guard.
