Navigating arrival at Denpasar airport in Bali in 2025 or 2026 is going to be a different experience than what many seasoned travelers are used to. The biggest change is the new All Indonesia Arrival Card. This launched in October 2025, and it’s a game-changer. It replaces the old electronic Customs Declaration (e-CD) and pretty much rolls immigration, customs, and health declarations all into one slick QR code. You need to complete it within 1–3 days before your arrival, so don’t jump on it too early – no more than 72 hours out.
What to Declare (and What Not To)
Let’s talk money and goods. You can bring up to IDR 100,000,000 (that’s 100 million rupiah) in foreign cash without needing to declare it. Go over that, and you absolutely must declare it, or you risk some hefty fines. For duty-free, you’re looking at 200 cigarettes, 25 cigars, or 100g of tobacco per passenger. If you prefer a drink, it’s 1 liter of alcohol. Exceed any of these limits, and you’ll need to declare it and pay the relevant taxes. Beyond that, any goods you bought abroad and are keeping in Indonesia, if they’re worth more than USD 500 per passenger (or USD 50 if you’re crew), need to be declared. This is all part of the new integrated system.
Other Important Declarations and Health Checks
This is where things can get a bit sticky if you’re not careful. Animals, fish, plants, and raw food products – and yes, that includes tortoise shells – must all be declared. If you don’t declare them, they will likely be confiscated, and you could face arrest or even deportation. Don’t risk it. Also, if you’re bringing a new mobile device, IMEI registration is mandatory and must be declared on the customs form. Finally, for those traveling from Yellow Fever zones, be prepared to provide evidence of your vaccination upon arrival. Immigration or customs officials might ask for it, so have that ready to avoid any delays.
